Lake Binowskie – an Underwater Garden Full of Life

Lake Binowskie is one of the most picturesque lakes I have had the chance to explore underwater. The lush and incredibly diverse vegetation creates a true underwater garden in places, where you can encounter perch, roach, and tench.

NEGLECTED ENTRY, BEAUTIFUL LAKE

The spot where I entered the water unfortunately does not make the best first impression.

Right at the shore, you can feel the soft, muddy bottom, and algae and trash lie in the water. The pier itself is heavily neglected and on one side is practically overgrown with vegetation.

Additionally, there is an unpleasant smell right at the water entry.

This is quite a contrast compared to what awaits just a few meters further.

UNDERWATER, THE GARDEN BEGINS

Once you swim further out, the lake reveals a completely different face.

Underwater, there is extremely lush and diverse vegetationthat covers vast areas of the bottom.

Tall plants, water lilies, and dense underwater meadows create a landscape that in places truly resembles an underwater garden.

It is the vegetation that is the greatest attraction of this place.

Not every body of water can impress so much with its flora alone.

The underwater plants reach all the way up to the water surface.

VISIBILITY IS NOT THE BEST

Binowskie does not impress with water clarity.

Visibility is rather poor, so this is not a place for those expecting crystal-clear water and long views.

Here, the greatest value lies in what is close to the diver.

And when you dive among the vegetation, the poor visibility ceases to be such a big problem.

FISH AMONG THE PLANTS

The lake does not boast a huge number of fish, but during diving you can encounter among others perch, roach, and tench.

It looks most interesting precisely among the underwater vegetation, which creates a natural shelter for animals.

Lake Binowskie is therefore definitely more a place to admire underwater flora than to search for large schools of fish.

Sometimes it gets as dense as a jungle.

TRASH BY THE SHORE

Unfortunately, traces of human activity are visible here as well.

At the water entry and around the pier, you can find trash left by people using the lake.

This is especially frustrating when shortly after you swim into beautiful, natural vegetation and see what a unique environment lies just a few meters from the shore.

All the more a pity that the first impression of this place is so poor.

LAKE WITH GREAT POTENTIAL

Lake Binowskie is a relatively small and shallow body of water – its surface area is about 52 hectares, and its maximum depth about 9.4 meters.

However, underwater its greatest asset is not its depth.

It is the landscape created by the vegetation.

In places where the bottom is completely overgrown, you can really feel like you are in an underwater garden.

IT'S WORTH TAKING CARE OF THE WATER ENTRY

The biggest paradox of Binowskie is that the place can make a great impression only after entering the water.

On the shore, a neglected pier, algae, mud, trash, and an unpleasant smell.

A few meters further – beautiful, dense vegetation and a completely different world.

It's a pity, because it would be enough to take care of the entry area, clean regularly, and maintain the pier so that the first impression would be the same as the one you can have underwater.

UNDERWATER GARDEN

Lake Binowskie is not a place attracted by crystal-clear water or an exceptionally large number of fish.

Its greatest treasure is the vegetation.

Dense meadows, tall plants, and water lilies create one of the most picturesque underwater landscapes I have had the chance to see.

And that is exactly why it’s worth diving here.

Because as soon as you move away from the neglected shore, Lake Binowskie reveals its true face – a beautiful, green underwater garden.
