Lake Kamienica impresses with its clear water and exceptionally rich underwater life. Beneath the surface, you can encounter huge schools of perch, numerous eels, pikes, and crayfish, with the added attraction of underwater springs.

Lake Kamienica – Crystal Clear Water and the Kingdom of Eels

Lake Kamienica is one of the most interesting diving spots in the area. Excellent water clarity, underwater springs, and abundant life make it possible to discover a truly unique world beneath the surface. The biggest attraction is the numerous eels and huge schools of perch inhabiting the area around the pier.

BATHING AREA AND STEEP DROP-OFF

The bathing area at Lake Kamienica is one of the more interesting places to start diving.

Entry into the water is convenient, and right at the pier, the bottom drops steeply to about 4 meters. This allows you to quickly reach deeper water.

It is precisely the area around the pier that is one of the most fascinating spots in this lake.

THE KINGDOM OF PERCH

Numerous perch permanently reside under the pier.

Throughout the season, you can encounter huge schools of these fish here, which use the pier’s structure as shelter.

This is one of the best places in the lake to observe perch up close.

In the vicinity of the pier, you can also find roach, and a bit further away, pike hunting among submerged branches and underwater vegetation.

UNDERWATER SPRINGS

One of the greatest attractions of Lake Kamienica is its numerous underwater springs.

They create a unique environment where many animal species can be found.

Underwater, you can see, among others, tadpoles, frogs, snails, noble crayfish, roach, perch, pike, ruffe, tench, and above all very numerous eels.

Eels are one of the biggest attractions of this place.

VISIBILITY THAT MAKES A DIFFERENCE

Lake Kamienica stands out for its very good water clarity.

The best diving conditions occur in May, before summer begins.

The water is then exceptionally clear, underwater vegetation has not yet grown extensively, and animals are very active.

It is the perfect time to observe the underwater springs and lake life.

HARD BOTTOM AND SOFT MUD

The bottom near the pier is hard, but just a few meters further it quickly turns into soft mud.

Here you can find numerous glacial erratics, submerged pallets, and other human-made objects.

Unfortunately, along with them, there is also trash on the bottom.

TRASH ON THE BOTTOM

Bottles, cans, plastic fragments, tires, and many other wastes have been entering the lake for years.

I have cleaned the bathing area twice already.

During these actions, I removed from the bottom dozens of bags of trash, tires, pipes, and many other wastes.

Despite these efforts, the problem remains.

The lake still requires regular cleaning and care to maintain its cleanliness.

AN EXTRAORDINARY LAKE WITH TWO FACES

Lake Kamienica is an interesting example of a place where, alongside the problem of trash, you can find truly exceptional nature.

On one hand, there is waste left by people.

On the other – underwater springs, clear water, rich fauna, and huge schools of fish.

Just dive below the surface to see how much life is hidden in this seemingly small part of the lake.

WORTH RETURNING TO

Kamienica is a place that particularly well demonstrates how much conditions can change throughout the year.

May offers the best clarity and allows you to see underwater springs and active animals.

In summer, the lake looks different, partly due to the growth of vegetation and algae blooms.

Regardless of the season, it is worth diving here.

Clear water, underwater springs, huge schools of perch, and above all numerous eels make Lake Kamienica one of the most interesting diving spots in the area.
