Lake Kłodawskie – very poor diving conditions

Lake Kłodawskie unfortunately is very poorly suited for diving. Underwater visibility is virtually zero, and additionally the lake bottom is heavily littered and full of obstacles that can pose a threat to divers.

VIRTUALLY ZERO VISIBILITY

The biggest problem when diving in Lake Kłodawskie is very poor visibility. Underwater it is difficult to see anything, and moving in such conditions requires great caution.

With virtually zero visibility, even ordinary obstacles on the bottom can become a serious problem. You cannot see them with adequate advance notice, which is why you must constantly monitor your position and equipment.

LOTS OF RUBBISH ON THE BOTTOM

The second major problem is the amount of waste lying underwater.

I have personally conducted cleaning operations here twice. In total, I managed to retrieve 25 bags of rubbish.

This shows the scale of the problem. Unfortunately, even after such operations, more waste remains underwater, and the lake would require regular cleaning.

FALLEN TREES AND FISHING LINES

Another threat comes from fallen trees located along the shore.

Many of them have scattered fishing lines. On the surface they may seem harmless, but underwater, especially with virtually zero visibility, they pose a serious threat to divers.

One moment of inattention is enough for a fishing line to become tangled in your equipment, hand or leg. In such conditions, freeing yourself from such a trap can be very difficult.

IS IT WORTH DIVING HERE?

In my opinion no.

Lake Kłodawskie has its recreational merits and is used, among other things, as a bathing place, but from a diver's perspective the situation looks completely different. Official materials concerning the lake also indicate low water transparency.

Very poor visibility, a large amount of rubbish, fallen trees and scattered fishing lines mean that I do not recommend this lake for diving.

If however someone decides to dive here, they should be aware that these are difficult and potentially dangerous conditions, where proper skills, experience and excellent equipment control are particularly important.
