Lake Miedwie is one of the most interesting diving sites in Western Pomerania. Underwater, you’ll find steep drops, a sandy bottom, rich wildlife, and remnants of historical objects, including a torpedo station, a cutter wreck, and a Soviet MiG.

ZIELENIEWO – SHALLOW AND CALM

One of the more interesting spots for recreational diving is the area around the beach and pier in Zieleniewo.

The bottom opposite the beach is sandy and slopes very gently. In this section, you can descend to about 4 meters deep, making it a good place for both relaxed diving and underwater photography.

It is precisely in such shallow spots that you can observe lake life unhurriedly and look for interesting finds.

WHAT LIES UNDER THE PIER?

Directly in front of the pier, the bottom holds a lot of trash and items lost by people using the beach.

Underwater, you can find among others phones, glasses, wallets, and various small items.

These are typical modern finds that show how many objects end up in the lake during ordinary leisure time by the water.

CRAYFISH ARE ALMOST EVERYWHERE HERE

One of the characteristic features of this place is the huge number of striped crayfish.

You can encounter them practically on every dive.

While calmly swimming along the bottom, you can come across not only fish but also numerous invertebrates inhabiting the lakeshore area.

THE LAKE CHANGES WITH DEPTH

Miedwie offers much more than shallow, sandy areas near the beaches.

In various places, the bottom consists of extensive shallows that transition into distinct, sometimes steep drops.

It is this diversity that makes diving in Miedwie look completely different depending on the chosen spot.

There are both calm, shallow sections for recreational diving and places allowing for more demanding exploration.

IN WINTER, THE LAKE SHOWS A DIFFERENT FACE

Miedwie is worth visiting at different times of the year.

Winter is especially interesting, when water clarity can be significantly better.

Then, you can see much more underwater, and the winter activity of wildlife around the lake also plays a big role.

During this period, numerous colonies of water birds appear on the lake.

FISH ARE ALSO WAITING UNDERWATER

Lake Miedwie is also a place rich in life.

During the dive, you can encounter among others pike, perch, and crayfish, as well as other species of fish and invertebrates.

It looks especially interesting in places where the sandy bottom transitions into underwater vegetation.

HISTORY HIDDEN UNDERWATER

However, Miedwie has something you won’t find in every lake.

Beneath its surface lie remnants of objects connected to the history of this region.

One of the most extraordinary places is a torpedo testing station from World War II – a site whose remains can still be explored underwater today.

In addition, there are other historical finds, including the wreck of a cutter and a Soviet MiG.

Thanks to these, diving in Miedwie is not limited to just observing nature.

Here, you can also dive into history.

NOT JUST ONE DIVE SITE

It is precisely this diversity that is one of Lake Miedwie’s greatest advantages.

You can start from the shallow, sandy shore at Zieleniewo, where small finds and plenty of crayfish await.

You can look for steep drop-offs and observe fish.

You can also head to places where underwater remain historical objects.

Each of these spots reveals a different face of the lake.

Lake Miedwie is one of those bodies of water worth returning to.

In summer, you can enjoy shallow, sandy areas and observe rich wildlife.

In winter, better visibility allows you to see more underwater.

And when you choose the right spot, instead of just a regular dive, you can start a true underwater exploration.

Nature, contemporary finds, and history hidden underwater – that’s what makes Miedwie one of the most interesting diving lakes in Western Pomerania.
